Girlfriend

Long ago, in the days of old

there lived a wizard in a lamp of gold

he longed to be out in the open

but cursed he was, to serve the humans

rub the lamp, three times over

three wishes and he’ll grant your favor

first wish, was for a pretty thing

that I could look at for eternity

second wish was for an honest friend

that I could trust blindly without amend

third wish was for a feisty cougar

but with teeth like a small furry mammal

with whatever power that he could muster

he conjured for me, quite the big surprise

It turned out that the wizard lied

and his abilities were under-hyped

every wish that I asked for

was combined into a girlfriend
